Aimed at cities with 100,000 inhabitants or more in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK

   

Qualifying for entry:

City planning and building departments, economic development agencies and other municipal institutions, investors, project developers and architects’ practices, etc. are all eligible to enter

   

Prizes:

1st prize: €15,000

 

2nd prize: €10,000

 

3rd prize: € 5,000

   

Deadline for submissions:

31 December 2003

   

Notification of shortlisted entrants:

5 March 2004

   

Awards ceremony:

History of the competition:

2004: DIFA-AWARD held at international level for the first time on the theme of “urban quarters”

 

2002: Open to German towns and cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants. The theme was “Quartier developments in an urban context”

 

2001: Inauguration of the DIFA-AWARD – open to German students of town planning, architecture, civil engineering, transport planning, ecology and sociology (urban studies)
