Scope Awards 2019: Two awards for institutional real estate business

On 29 November 2018, Scope Analysis and business newspaper Handelsblatt presented the Scope Alternative Investment Awards 2019 in Berlin. Union Investment’s institutional real estate business picked up prizes in two categories.

Wolfgang Kessler, a member of the Management Board of Union Investment Institutional Property GmbH, accepted the awards in the categories “Institutional Real Estate Germany” and “Institutional Real Estate Operator-Run Properties” on behalf of his team.

Recognition for fund focusing on Germany

The award in the Institutional Real Estate Germany category acknowledges the strong performance of the UniInstitutional German Real Estate fund and of Union Investment’s seven special funds that focus mainly on Germany, including UII GermanM. In explaining its decision, the jury particularly praised the broad product range for institutional customers.

Strong position in hotel and micro-living sector

The award in the Institutional Real Estate Operator-Run Properties category recognises the successful positioning of special funds UII Hotel Nr. 1 and Urban Living Nr. 1. After analysing the potential of the micro-living segment, Union Investment launched Urban Living Nr. 1 to provide customers with the opportunity to invest in this high-growth niche market. The fund invests in micro-apartment complexes that are used by students, commuters and young professionals.
