The Award

The international PropTech Innovation Award was initiated by Union Investment and German Tech Entrepreneurship Center (GTEC).

The competition draws in the most groundbreaking proptech solutions from around the globe. This year, company founders and young entrepreneurs from 28 countries worldwide have submitted their digital business ideas for the real estate sector. From 130 applications, the twelve best proptechs from around the world have been selected and invited to pitch their ideas in Berlin.

The Winners

At the 2018 PropTech Innovation Award ceremony the Dutch company Physee was awarded as the most innovative PropTech of the year. Physee has developed the first and only, fully transparent electricity and data generating windows that increase the energy efficiency and user experience of buildings. HiP Interactive Property was honored for its ground-breaking platform that re-thinks the way real estate assets are bought, sold, collateralised and interacted with. Ranking in third place Spaceti, headquartered in Prague, convinced the jury with its technology for digitising buildings based on the principles of indoor location.

The Atmosphere

More than 300 guests from PropTech start-ups and real estate grown-ups came together in Berlin and met in one of the coolest event locations of the vibrant German capital: Säälchen near Berlin Ostbahnhof station. After a key-note and a panel discussion there were two rounds of pitches. Finally the jury named three winners and invited all guests to an informal networking evening.

PropTech events and social media belong together. Many guests were shooting pictures and sharing posts on their channels.
The expert jury paid a special attention to the pitches and nominated six finalists after the first round.

In the second round the six finalists were critically checked by the jury members, e.g. Marteen Vermeulen FRICS, RICS Regional Managing Director Europe.
Benjamin Rohé, Managing Director of GTEC, was also a member of the Jury and brought in his start-up expertise
After the pitches the finalists waited for the jury vote.
The audience stayed relaxed and were entertained by the second round of pitches.

The jury invited twelve finalists in six categories representing fields where digitisation will probably have the strongest impact for the real estate industry in the upcoming years.
