Union Investment and Motel One welcome first guests at new hotel in Munich
Last night Union Investment and Motel One celebrated the pre-opening of the new hotel "Motel One München-Messe" together with about 300 guests. The timing could hardly have been better as EXPO REAL 2018, the largest real estate trade fair in Europe, is currently taking place in the immediate vicinity. The first hotel guests have already spent the nights at the Motel One München-Messe during the trade fair period. For the general public, overnight stays can be booked from 15 October 2018.
"We are delighted that, together with Union Investment, we were able to realise the new Motel One hotel directly at the Munich Trade Fair Centre. The Munich trade fair is one of the most important trade fair and conference locations in the world and therefore an excellent hotel location," says Stefan Lenze, Head of Development at Motel One.
"The Motel One München-Messe is the eighth Motel One brand hotel in Union Investment's international portfolio, which currently comprises 73 hotel properties in 9 countries," says Martin Schaller, Head of Asset Management Hospitality at Union Investment Real Estate GmbH. "The strong presence of Motel One in our portfolio, with a total volume of around EUR 300 million, reflects our great confidence in the long-term attractiveness of the brand and also testifies to the positive experience we have gained from ongoing cooperation. Together, we are laying the foundation for sustainable successful hotel operations". Union Investment holds Motel One design hotels in its real estate fund portfolio in Amsterdam, Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg and Stuttgart. In Munich, the Hamburg real estate investment manager also holds the Motel One Deutsches Museum in its portfolio since 2014.
The new Motel One München-Messe comprises 311 rooms and was built as part of an expansion project for the StadtQuartier Riem Arcaden that has now been completed. The lease has a term of at least 25 years. It was already signed at EXPO REAL 2015. Union Investment is the owner of the now 122,500 square meter StadtQuartier Riem Arcaden and has also commissioned the extension. The quarter also includes Bavaria's largest shopping center with around 130 shops and restaurants. With its immediate proximity to the Munich trade fair grounds and the shopping centre, the new Motel One München-Messe appeals to business and leisure travellers. The connection to the subway station "Messestadt West" and the further traffic network of the city of Munich make comfortable journeys into the city centre of Munich possible.
Inside, the design hotel Motel One München-Messe takes up the typical charm of the Bavarian state capital. This includes blue and white diamond patterns and a little brass music as well as creative references to the greatest sights of Munich and its surroundings such as the English Garden, King Ludwig and his castle Nymphenburg or the nearby foothills of the Alps.
