Grand Central Paris Saint-Lazare wins MIPIM Award for the best office development
• Business centre with 23,700 sq m of rental space
• 800 sq m of rooftop agriculture space
• Part of Unilmmo: Deutschland portfolio since 2017
Union Investment’s Grand Central Paris Saint-Lazare business centre has won the MIPIM Award 2020 in the Best Office & Business Development category. Completed in 2019, the landmark office building has been part of the Unilmmo: Deutschland portfolio since January 2017.
Located at Paris’s Saint-Lazare railway station, the second largest station in Europe, with street addresses 17 Rue d’Amsterdam and 43-51 Rue de Londres, the property is one of the most cutting-edge and best-connected office and service hubs in the Ile-de-France. The building’s infrastructure was recently awarded WiredScore Gold certification. In addition, Grand Central Saint-Lazare has received two sustainability certificates: HQE Excellent and BREEAM Very Good. The building was designed by architects Ferrier Marchetti Studio.
The mix of use types allows a sophisticated combination of leisure and work activities. In addition to 23,700 sq m for office use, services and retail, Grand Central Saint-Lazare includes three lobbies, three restaurants, a concierge service and an auditorium with seating for 134. It also boasts 2,000 sq m of terrace areas, as well as an urban Promenade.

Other highlights include the 800 sq m of agriculture space on the roof, which is used to grow native plants and edible flowers. Alongside the building’s own bee colonies, other insects and birds also find a welcoming environment here. The roof of Grand Central thus contributes to urban biodiversity in the heart of Paris.
The building is fully let. Pernod Ricard, the world’s second largest spirit maker, had already reserved 18,000 sq m of office space prior to completion in October 2019. Likewise ahead of completion, French insurance group Apicil signed a lease for 1,756 sq m of office space. Spendesk secured the remaining 2,500 sq m, with the French fintech making the building its headquarters.
