The building
The Grand Central project has been under development since 2013 by the Carlyle Group and was acquired by Union Investment as part of a forward funding deal. In addition to 20,600 sq m of office and retail space, the complex will include three entrance lobbies, two restaurants, a bar and an auditorium, which will be accessible to the public. Special features of the project designed by Jacques Ferrier Architecture include a public promenade, several terraces comprising a total of 2,000 sq m, as well as a green roof that can be used for agricultural purposes. The sustainability of the property is documented by certification according to HQE Excellent as well as BREEAM Very Good.
Location & surroundings
The Grand Central business centre is being developed in the immediate vicinity of Saint-Lazare railway station in Paris's 8th arrondissement. Completion is scheduled for the middle of 2019. With over 100 million passengers a year, Saint-Lazare is the second largest railway station in Europe, served by five subway lines and numerous bus routes.
