Climate-neutral real estate portfolio by 2050

We are aware of our responsibility.

In 2018, we set ourselves the goal of being climate-neutral with our global real estate portfolio by 2050 with our "manage to green" strategy. The fact that we addressed decarbonisation at an early stage is benefiting us today. This is because climate protection laws are becoming increasingly stringent around the world. Germany, for example, moved the final target of net greenhouse gas neutrality forward by five years in 2021: from 2050 to 2045. Our "manage to green" strategy is not just about CO2 reduction. It is about the total consumption of the properties in kilowatt hours and hence about the efficiency of the technical systems installed. In doing so, we are guided by the so-called CRREM path (Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor), which sets the curves for the consumption of CO2 and kilowatt hours to achieve the climate targets for different asset classes, countries and year.
