PropTech Innovation Award 2021
The globe continues to face challenges and by looking into the future, Union Investment and GERMANTECH, announce the 5th PropTech Innovation Award and Summit under the motto "Accelerating the Real Estate Evolution”. We want to enable the most innovative startups to showcase their work in five new categories that have been identified as key in continuously developing the real estate sector. The competition features prize money of up to EUR 40,000.

About this year's Award
Under the motto "Accelerating the Real Estate Evolution" Union Investment and GERMANTECH are organising the PropTech Innovation Award for the fifth time. We are convinced that the current crises can help shine light on the opportunities, which in turn strengthens the relationships between PropTechs and established players.
Many topics and challenges from last year still remain relevant, however, for this year we have dialed down into new exciting areas such as the re-use and transformation of space. In partnership with important industry players, we would like to enable the most innovative startups to showcase their work in five categories that have been identified as key in continuously developing the PropTech sector.
The five categories:
Future Proof Office Spaces
Does your solution help building owners to reduce costs or efforts, stay relevant, attractive, flexible and modern to support and cater to the needs of the new generation of office tenants? Could it be in alignment with the increased requirements for healthier and more hygienic workplace concepts? Also considering flexibility, rent terms and fit-out?
Supporting Real Estate Value Chains
Does your solution digitalize and optimize processes, speed of valuation, automation and decision making? How does it ensure quality, accuracy and clarity of data in real estate asset management and transactions?
Re:Create Retail
Does your solution support location-based retailers in times of e-commerce, challenges of temporary restrictions, reduced numbers of walk-in customers, changing consumer behaviour, and changing demographics? How can retail spaces be re-used, re-arranged or re-thought?
New Concepts for Urban Living
Does your solution add value to residential buildings, micro apartments and other living concepts to offer tenants a perfect experience while they are at their (temporary) home? How do you simplify communication, rental processes and/or maintenance for owners and increase individuality and flexibility?
Smart & Sustainable: Connected Cities and Buildings
Does your solution help building owners, operators and users solve the challenges of energy consumption and building efficiency due to the rise of regulatory demands and increased connectivity?
In its fifth consecutive year of running, the PropTech Innovation Award and Summit prides itself on the international reach and network it has provided for startups and partners from around the world. Being a key event for the European and German market, we strive to connect all ambitious PropTech actors and look forward to another successful year full of innovation, inspiring talks and accelerating the industry towards a brighter future.
The competition features prize money of up to EUR 40,000. The pitch rounds and the awards ceremony will take place at the PropTech Innovation Summit on June 23rd 2021 as a hybrid digital online event. A total of 25 startups will have the chance to feature themselves to our prestigious network of industry players and professionals.

What happenend 2020?
The Proptech Innovation Summit 2020 - Online Edition
On 19 May, 2020, around 600 participants logged in to the first-ever digital edition of the PropTech Innovation Summit organised by Union Investment and GERMANTECH. Under the slogan “Building perspectives in challenging times”, we discussed the current challenges facing the real estate and start-up sectors across six think tank sessions.

The 18 finalists 2020
150 applicants from 29 countries entered the international PropTech Innovation Award 2020 with 18 finalists from Germany, Switzerland, Israel, the UK, Finland and Slovenia being selected by the jury.
